OniKimono Visual Novel -ish

Ha ha, the last week or so at work we've been geeking over Angie Gallant's playthrough of Hatoful Boyfriend (http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=67529). Then her runthrough of Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Kiss: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=63246.
And we were like, wouldn't it be AW3sOme if our comics had dating sims too?! And because I am the world's biggest dorky fangirl for my own series... i made one. Well, not a real game but.... anyway, here are a couple of screencaps. I even wrote a tiny silly side adventure for this which will appear in the book as an extra.

NYCC and NYAF!

Off to the Big Apple!
That's right, Bentocomics traveled from all over the globe to attend this year's NY Comic Con and Anime Festival, which were both held in the Javitz Center. A few of us arrived early like Queenie Chan who flew in all the way from Sydney, to do some sightseeing in Times Square and Rockefeller Center. We did step into the lobby of the Empire State Building looking for the old Guinness Book of World Records museum, which no one had even heard of anymore. (Wow, has it been so long since I've been there!?)
We were then joined by Tacto a day before the con and did our frantic dash around Chinatown and Soho looking for last minute con supplies and those damn book stands! When we did finally find a shop that had them, there was an interesting stone statue there that greeted us "very erectly", hahahahaha! Later in the day we met up with Svet who saddened us with tales of badly boiled NY hot dogs. What the hell!?
The four of us stayed at the Chelsea Star, and thanks to a leak in the upstairs floor, we were moved to a room with the nosiest bunk beds evah. However, Svet was extremely happy snagging the top bunk. Later that night we meet up with Bridget of Manga Blog fame and had Chinese Cuisine with her awesome peeps as well as catching up with some old friends like Deb Aoki, whom we hadn't seen since Comitia in Tokyo the year before. The next day of course had to grab our bagels and juice before lugging our goods to the Javitz..

Dennis Lo was already up and waiting for us to set up the table, a pattern well established over the next few days...sorry Dennis! But soon after, we were ready.

Books galore, yay! Quite a full table including the cutest crocheted cactus you will ever come across. All the covers were very eye catching, although we will definitely have some color banners for display at our next con. Also, if you look closely at the image above, you can see Queenie drinking her coffee, which was bought shortly after we found her asleep under the table like this!

Later in the morning George Alexopoulos completed the group and we were at full energy capacity and ready to make some sales!

The artist alley this year was held on the fourth floor, so kinda out of the way from the rest of the con, but we did have the karaoke stage in the main area next to us. I guess that was a double edged sword considering the karaoke started fairly early in the morning. And thanks to one of the gracious cleaning staff, we were able to locate the SECRET bathroom. By the end of the day we had a great start, selling about a dozen of the Sherlock Holmes Anthology and several other books. Although, because some of us were too tired the first day, we had yet to start our bargain priced doodles and portraits! We also needed food...Energy waning...

Ramen it was! The next day, after we were bagel and juiced up at the Tick Toc dinner (where Tacto and Queenie discovered corned beef hash and learned to order eggs over easy), we were all busy with our doodles, except for when we were browsing the other wonderful tables and trying to get into the overcrowded panels. Oh yeah, and making honey roasted peanut and hot dog runs (er,Svet and Tacto...). The con was super hectic on Saturday and we were ever thankful for the SECRET bathroom. Across from us the Comic Legal Defense Fund had a temporary table and we grabbed some of their flyers for serious reading. It was also a time for lots and lots of sketching!

More trips for honey roasted peanuts ensued and a trip to the hot dog vendor outside the convention who was grilling his dogs, yeah! By the of the day we were almost sold out of the Holmes Anthology and were looking forward to some good old Korean BBQ and karaoke. Thank you again, Yen Press for drinks and a kick ass karaoke night and to Kurt Hassler and his rendition of "Jizz in my Pants"!

Third day was thankfully calmer, but definitely a higher demand for comissions, since word has gotten out of our incredible, but under priced sketches. We also had some cool visitors to our table, including Deb, Ju-Youn, Magic Tania, and Rem, Soulless and Vampire Kisses artist. We did end up selling out of Holmes books and after a quick book exchange, some last minute shopping, and a bid farewell to Dennis, we were ready to celebrate a another great con experience. There was a brief stop at the Book Off in midtown to pick up Rem and after they kicked us out at closing time, we took the subway down to Little Italy for some amazing dinner and wine.

By the way, Svet did not eat that entire hunk of delicious lamb by herself. But she did eat the giant bowl of Parmesan cheese...Tacto and I were successfully drunk (but not wasted) from the sangria and wine, which meant we were totally ready for another subway trip up to our hotel.
The next morning we had our traditional brunch at the Skylight dinner, and then off to Grand Central to catch a bus. Svet stayed on to party in the city for the next few days while Queenie, Tacto and I had to catch our flight to San Francisco to get ready for YAOI con, woot! However, not all of us made it there in one piece...but that is a story for another blog post...

OniKimono: Heartless process, page vi

From the prologue- Kam's picked up a bit of insight from The Daily Enlightenment (which is a real site off buddhanet.net that I quite like). I should thank them for the screencap :D
... speaking of thanks, I hunted all over the place for an email address to thank the guy who did the textures on devianart and never found one. Curse you spammers for making us all so cautious about contacting one another.
